The Conference welcomes the readiness of nuclear-weapon States to provide future security assurances to non-nuclear-weapon States within the context of nuclear-weapon-free-zones, and encourages further steps to be taken to bring into effect the assurances provided by nuclear-weapons-free zone treaties and their protocols.

By way ofAs an example, at the fourth meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Convention for the Protection, Management and Development of the Marine and Coastal Environment of the Eastern African Region, held from 6 to 8 July 2004 in Antananarivo, Madagascar, UNEP was asked to assist in streamlining small small-island island-developing developing-States projects within the context of the Convention.
